Trails and Viewing Areas

COME SEE THE FOREST AND THE TREES…AND THE ELK

Seeing and hearing elk in person is an awe-inspiring experience – the high point of any visit to Pennsylvania Elk Country. With that experience in mind, we’ve designed the Elk Country Visitor Center as a place where visitors have an opportunity to see and experience these majestic animals year round in their natural habitat.

The Visitor Center features three observation trails with viewing areas and interpretive wayside displays. All trails are wheelchair accessible and lead to viewing areas where you can see the elk in a natural setting. Visitors can also experience and learn about other native plants and animals, the area’s history, and the surrounding ecosystem.

We ask that you observe the Visitor Guidelines on trails and elsewhere. Remember to stay on the designated trails and paths at all times for your safety and the safety of the elk. No pets or smoking are permitted in the Center or on trails or viewing areas. Please use trash receptacles or take trash with you. Trails and viewing areas are for foot traffic only.  View our policies Elk Country Visitor Center Visitor Policies 2019
