THE ELK ARE JUST THE BEGINNING

What will you find when you come to Elk Country?

First and foremost, the Elk Country Visitor Center is the premier location in the northeastern United States for seeing and experiencing elk in a natural setting. The Visitor Center was designed to provide live, year-round opportunities to see and hear these amazing animals from trails, viewing areas and from our indoor Great Room.

You can enrich your visit by exploring an array of educational exhibits, watching the 4D immersive theater show, experiencing our nature trails and viewing areas, taking a horse drawn wagon ride, and shopping in our gift store. There is something for everyone…children, families and visitors of all kinds.

And of course, just beyond our Visitor Center lies the Pennsylvania Wilds with over two million acres of rivers, forests, towns and historical sites–a wealth of opportunities for exploration!

Notice for Elk Viewers: Elk are wild animals, and we can’t promise you will see them. However, we can offer some tips to improve your chances! The fields surrounding the center are planted with alfalfa, timothy, clover, and winter wheat to attract the elk. The best times to view are early in the morning, just after day light, and in the hours before dark. Elk do not like the heat, and they will bed down in the shade where it is coolest during the day. Be sure to bring a camera and binoculars for better viewing!

*Please note:  Cell phone coverage is limited in Elk Country.  Sorry, pets are not permitted.
